"Don't you think I know she was never born?" she snapped. She didn't want to answer those questions yet...she couldn't trust him, not yet at least. She took a deep breath before speaking again. "Cole...I can't tell you, alright." she told him looking away from him. She would be able to feel his emotions but seeing them on his face too would be too much.

Cole was about to respond to her first comment when she said that she couldn't tell him. It wasn't just a normal, I don't want to tell you, or a you might get it out of me sometime thing. This was a real, heart-felt signal that she could not talk to him about things like this anymore. He felt his heart sink a little, and his breaths become short and fast. But those were signs of insecurity, he couldn't have those, especially not around Phoebe. He quickly wiped his slate of all physical signs of being hurt by what she just said. As his gaze fell to the ground, he took a small step backwards. "Oh, okay," was all he managed to get out without his voice cracking from his pain or anything. He thought about flaming out right then, but then decided to stick around to see what happened next.

Phoebe heard him reply and could hear the emotion in his voice. "Wonder what the Underwould would think of their Source now," she said in a flat, hard voice. It was the first time she had voiced in front of him that he was the Source. "You know...your position makes it rather complicated for her, just so you know," she added, and by her she meant Felicity.

At Phoebe's next comment, Cole felt like he had just been stabbed in the heart, but wouldn't die. The pain was consistant, hard, and stayed there. But he couldn't show it. He had to be strong, she was already dissing him for being weak in front of her, he couldn't let this happen anymore. She obviously didn't care too much for him to be able to say a comment like that, and so he needed to get himself over it.
He felt his temper flare at her second comment. So she wouldn't tell him anything about their daughter, but she would insult him for making things hard for her. "You think my position is easy for me? damn it Phoebe!" His voice was raised quite a bit, almost to the yelling stage. He just couldn't believe how Phoebe could be saying this kind of stuff to him. After all they had been through, all the times that she had killed him, she still felt some love for him, through all of it. They both knew that, but she had no problem being cruel to him now. Phoebe felt is pain and regretted the comment. But she always did things like that when seh wanted to cover her own pain...which wasn't often, because normally she didn't cover her pain, she showed it. She didn't know how to reply to him. She couldn't reply to him, not yet...she had to sort out herself first. "Maybe you should just meet her...it might direct your thoughts away from yourself," she said, taking out a small bottle with a white smokey substance in it. Piper had insisted that she and Phoebe carry some of the potion around as they couldn't orb like Paige. She threw down the bottle and it broke at her feet, and a white mist came up around her- when it cleared, Phoebe was gone.

Cole's eyes flared and he felt fire start to form in his hand. Sometimes that happened involuntarily went he got angry. "damn it, Phoebe! How the hell am I supposed to talk to her if you won't tell me who she is!?" He was yelling at the ceiling of the house, since Phoebe had already made her grand exit. His fiery eyes dropped to the floor, and he thrusted the small fireball in his hand at the floor, leaving a large scorch mark in the middle of the oh-so-familiar tile floor.
