Taking place two years after the strange event that happened in Tokyo, two years after the deaths of Light Yagami (a.k.a. Kira) and the famous detective 'L', the Death Note is found once more. The Death Note is a notebook used by the Shinigami (Japanese Death God) to take lives away from humans. Every so often a Shinigami just might misplace is Death Note in the human world.
The year is now 2011. Seventeen-year-old, brilliant high school student, Minako Amane, one day finds the Death Note of the Shinigami Ryuk while studying in a secluded warehouse near her home. After finding it, Mina is followed around by Ryuk. Minako has the same plans that her predecesor, Light, had--Rid the world of all the evil criminals and create a perfect world.
As the younger sister of Misa Amane, who had commited suicide a year ago, Mina knows all about Light, his plans, the Shinigami, and the events, since Misa confided them in her younger sister. With her plans set, Mina needs one more thing--Light Yagami himself. Using the power of her sister's two Death Notes, she plans to bring him back alive for help in her 'world domination' plans.
But Mello, or L, the original L's predecesor, has other plans for the newest Kira. He doesn't know about Light's return or that two Death Notes are now in the possesion of the murderous pair.
Now begins the world's greatest game of Cat vs. Mouse.
