History ::
Erzsébet Bathory was born in Trenèín, Slovakia, to Ferencz and Dorretya Bathory. She was the youngest child, born ten years after her older brother. She was a complete accident, so her parents say.
Elizabeth, the name she has decided to go by in England to make pronunciation easier, is a descendent of the infamous Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian countess who ruled over Trenèín and surrounding areas back when it was still Hungary. According to history, Countess Elizabeth Bathory was a royal woman, beautiful woman, related to several very influential figures in Eastern European history. After her husband, who taught her many ways to torture and mutilate people, she hit a servant. The blood got on her hand, thus triggering Elizabeth to believe blood would make her stay young. During her reign, she killed between 600 and 800 young, virgin women from surrounding towns. But, unknown to history, Elizabeth Bathory was a witch, as was her husband.
The modern Elizabeth's parents were, in a morbid way, proud of their ancestor, of which Elizabeth's mother is of direct relation. In homage to their long-dead ancestor, Ferencz and Dorretya named their youngest girl after the murderous countess. Elizabeth always found this quite amusing, and since she loves vampires (even historical ones who don't actually live forever), she takes every chance she can get to tell the story to people she wants to scare (but only when she doesn't like the person).
It is from the ancient Elizabeth Bathory that Elizabeth gains her witch side. Only a few generations of witches after Bathory's death were evil, after that they became good, but slowly and over time. They family decided they no longer wanted to be associated with such evil, and through sheer will they succeeded. Dorretya, obviously a good witch, married her white-lighter, Ferencz, in secret. Ferencz eventually gave up being a white-lighter to be with his wife, hiding his powers from the Elders so that they may live in peace. This was after the conception of Elizabeth.
Ferencz and Dorretya decided to move to San Francisco when Elizabeth was but 10 years old, and her elder brother was already moved away. And so they moved, leaving behind Slovakia and the only home Elizabeth had ever known. She already knew English, having learned it in school, but being in a brand new country, with people who did not speak her language, was very difficult. She got used to it after a while, but still misses her homeland.
At a young age, Elizabeth came in to her powers, but her parents told her never to use them. They themselves, especially her father, rarely used magic, prefering to live as mortals. They did not believe magic was a real need in this day and age, and felt it was easier and safer if she did not use magic. Fortunately for her, she discovered the Magic School when she was fifteen, and after much begging, her parents permitted her to attend said school. She's been going there ever since.
Personality ::
Elizabeth has been described as a number of things, it all just depends on who's describing her. If described by a teacher, she might be described as "inattentive," or perhaps "a joy to have." Or, again depending on the teacher, she could be described as "a distraction, given to try and get the class to pay attention to her." But by her classmates, she's been called so much more. She's been called a b!tch, a flirt, a tart. She's been called annoying, awesome, and an idiot. She's been described as arrogant, obnoxious, and kind.
But she views herself as few of those things. Obnoxious, okay she'll admit to that (for the most part). And, she has her arrogant moments. But would never describe herself as annoying, awesome, or an idiot. A flirt, maybe, perhaps even a b!tch, but she is not an idiot. She knows exactly what she's doing when she does it, and often she plans out her actions. If she's going to pull something on a teacher, a lot of planning goes into her work. If she's going to lure in a boy, she starts from scratch and reels them in with a lot of hard work and planning. She will not, however, force anyone to do anything. She's not conniving or manipulative.
She is very competitive, and does not give up easily. She's more stubborn than a lot of people, and it takes a lot to get her to admit defeat. Even when hope seems lost, she keeps her spirits high, her hope up, and her chest out. She knows, however, when to say no, so she doesn't get herself into sticky situations. She's very intuitive. For instance, she will not make a bet, because if she did, there's a chance she could lose. And losing is something she does not enjoy doing.
She is a real romantic, enjoying things that most men seem to have forgotten. Chivalry, they call it. They say it's dead, but sometimes there's a man here and there who remembers the meaning of the word. It's these guys who manage to catch her attention, and she doesn't lose attention easily. She can only really like one guy at a time, and when she falls she falls hard. She doesn't get her heart broken easily, but when it happens, she can't help but be devastated. She's had it broken once, and because of that one time, has a very low opinion of most men. It takes a lot for them to gain her trust.
As for friends, she's very loyal... when she likes you. She's a good friend, hardcore about her friendship to the death. While it takes a lot to gain her trust, once somebody is her friend, she will defend them. She is a kind person, really, when she likes you. Otherwise, she can be what people have often described her as: b!tch.

She wondered for a moment if her cold tone offended him somehow. She had no doubt in his mind that he was a great guy. But unfortunately, she had no time to tell him she hadn't meant anything bad by her statement. He'd been right. Something bad did happen. Looking in the direction of the drunk teenagers, she couldn't help but let out a groan of disgust. People today really made her mad. One, they weren't even allowed to drink. Two, if they were going to drink, they should have stayed at home. Less people would get hurt that way.
Much to Elizabeth's surprise, Harry left her standing in the middle of the crowd. He raced off, determined to do... what the hell was he going to do? "Harry!" She called, pushing through the crowd after him. "What the hell are you doing?" She was in awe, only for a second, at how fast he moved. It was impossible! How could somebody move so freaking fast? There was more to Harry Osborn than met the eye... even the media's eye. "What the..." she whispered, pulling out her camera and aiming up as he sped up the wheel.
Click.
The drunk teens pointed and laughed, not caring that they caused this mess. "damn them," she said, looking away from Harry, if just for a moment. With out so much as really thinking it over, she closed her eyes and visualized those stupid kids. You, she thought into their heads, are done. The teens suddenly sobered up. Well, not really. To someone looking outside, yes they did. They sobered up. But Elizabeth knew better. The teens backed away, turned around, and disappeared into the crowd.
Shaking her head, Elizabeth returned to reality, just in time to see Harry trying to help that last kid. Bringing her camera up yet again, she shot another photograph. And another. She wasn't going to let this slip away from her. Moving to another spot, she took another picture. Even as they fell to the ground, and her heart sped up in fear, she was determined to catch this feat of bravery on camera. She wished she had a video camera, but she was sure somebody in the crowd was filming this on their cell phone. Elizabeth would have to settle for getting black and white pictures to sell to some newspaper. Surely, Harry wouldn't mind. It'd make him out to be a hero.
"Oh my god!" She gushed, jumping over the railing and running to him. "Are you insane? You could have been killed!"
